Great places for adventure travel in the US

Were can you go to Walt Disney World, the oldest European settlement in North America, America’s launch pad for space shuttles, and the beach all in one day? If you guessed Florida then you are right

Florida was founded in 1513 by Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de Len Who called it “Feast of flowers”, also known as Florida. Florida was later made part of the United Sates of America in 1845. Florida’s climate is very warm making it a great place to travel to from up north to get some of the warm weather. Florida is also a great place to travel to because of some of the great theme parks such as Disney World, Sea World, and Bush Gardens. Another reason Florida is a great travel destination is because of all of the beautiful coastline of Florida stretching 1,197 miles on the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf coast. Because of the beaches there are tons more of recreational activities to do such as surfing, sailing, snorkeling, boogie-boarding, boating, and skim boarding. Another great tourist spot is the Florida Keys because of the variety of wildlife and fish, the great weather, and the crystal clear water that surrounds the islands in the Caribbean Sea. Some of the large cities in Florida are Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Tampa; the largest of them all is the city of Miami witch is home to 3,876,380 people. The capital of Florida is Tallahassee. The government of Florida consists of a Governor and a cabinet consisting of Attorney General, Chief Financial Officer, and Commissioner of Agriculture. The Governor of Florida is currently Jeb Bush, our president’s brother. Because of the many tourist venues in Florida it is one of the most traveled to states in all of America. It is also ranked number four in the U.S. for population witch was 16 million people in 2000. Florida is well known for its colleges. Some of them are: The University of Miami, The University of South Florida, Florida State University, and University of Florida. The two biggest are Florida and Florida State. Now to some of Florida’s geography and resources, the geography of Florida is mostly flat land with occasional hills, lakes, rivers, and valleys. Florida’s total land area is 58,560 square miles which puts Florida in 22nd rank for land in the United States. Florida’s length north to south is 447 miles stretching from the St. Marys River to Key West. The width of Florida east to west is 361 miles stretching from the Atlantic Ocean to the Perdido River. The highest natural point of Florida is 345 feet. Florida also has a lot of coastline going 1,197 miles on the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf coast.

Although Florida is one of the most popular destinations for tourists in all of America, I think that is also one of the best states to live in.

Travel Guide To New Caledonia

New Caledonia is a French colony in the southern Melanesia, between Vanuatu and Australia’s Queensland. 1600 km of barrier reef with 350 species of coral and over 1000 species of fish make New Caledonia a popular destination for divers, and there are also opportunities for kayaking, yachting and dolphin and whale watching.

New Caledonia Fast Facts

New Caledonia is made up of the Grande Terre or Mainland, where most of its population lives; the Isle of Pines, the Loyalty Islands Maré, Lifou, Tiga and Ouvéa, the Belep Archipelago, and several other islands and islets. The 215 000 inhabitants of New Caledonia are of Melanesian, European and Polynesian origin. The capital Noumea is on Mainland.

The Grande Terre or Mainland is 400 km long and has a tropical, lush east coast with a more humid climate, and a drier west coast with nice beaches, mangrove swamps and savannah grassland. The mountain range Chaîne Centrale in the middle of the island has peaks of over 1600 metres.

Best Times To Visit New Caledonia

New Caledonia’s climate is temperate. June to September is a cooler time, and temperature can drop to 15 Celsius at night. Mid-November to April is the warmer, rainy season. There can be cyclones during the hotter months, especially January to March, and heavy rains can cause flooding. September to December is generally the best time to travel to New Caledonia, although the cooler months between June and September are a good time for hiking.

Things To Do In New Caledonia

The 1600 km of barrier reef that surrounds New Caledonia offers good snorkelling and diving, and the Grande Terre has the world’s largest coral lagoon to explore. There are canyons and caves, over a thousand species of fish, 350 species of corals, turtles and even sharks. There are also opportunities for dolphin and whale spotting, windsurfing and kayaking, and great hikes to the mountains. The Hienghene area on the east coast of Mainland, with its mountains and waterfalls, is a beautiful area to explore. Most visitors also spend some time in the capital Noumea and visit its restaurants, museums and old colonial houses. Flights and catamarans connect Mainland to other islands.

How To Get To New Caledonia

There are flights to Noumea from Tokyo and Osaka in Japan, from Sydney and Brisbane in Australia, and from Auckland in New Zealand. European travellers can fly from Paris via Tokyo or Osaka, and from North America there are flight connections via Fiji and via Australia.
